If you are planning a surgical procedure, it is essential to have a careful preoperative evaluation. We will examine your history of health changes, previous hospitalizations and surgeries, infections, vascular changes and family history.

PRE-OPERATIVE AND PRE-ANESTHETIC EVALUATION

It is important to have a sincere report about the use of tobacco or drugs, and about the use of medications, especially if you use multiple medications and have a history of allergies.

You will be asked to stop using some medications that may influence bleeding or scarring, such as aspirin and similar, anti-inflammatories, some vitamin and dietary supplements with Ginko biloba, vitamin E.

Smoking is a factor in vascular complications, which can lead to tissue necrosis and poor perfusion, especially in major surgeries such as facial rejuvenation, reduction mammoplasty and abdominoplasty.

Obesity is another factor to be taken into account. If you are associated to diabetes and hypertension, the surgical risk is significant and we may contraindicate the surgery.

Preventing thromboembolism is routine in the conjunction with the pre-anesthetic evaluation.

All surgical procedures are performed in a hospital environment.

POST-OPERATIVE CARE

In the postoperative period, it is essential to follow the prescribed guidelines and care. A more frequent follow-up will be required in the first month.

The complete healing may vary depending on the body area and the extent of the surgery. In general, it is completed after around 6 months. In most cases, after the first month there is liberation for some physical activities.

Exposure to the sun before 30 days is contraindicated and, when necessary, after this period, it should be done with a sunscreen of physical preference.

SURGICAL RISKS

The risks of complications, such as hemorrhages, infections, changes in healing, and systemic complications, such as thrombosis or embolism, will be individually discussed according to the procedure. The longer the surgical time and the extension of the operated areas are, the greater are the risks. If the risk of complications outweighs the benefits, your surgery will be contraindicated or postponed until you have ideal conditions to safely perform the procedure.
